This Month's artist: Lily Gaunt ( @1_i1_y on instagram)
Lily is an artist who to me has seemed unafriad of tackling new ideas, trying new techniques, or playing with mediums and the items she uses as a canvas. I peronally love her mural pieces (some are collaborations with other artists) but what makes her so intresting is the variety of work and seeing her evolve and change with each piece, her works as whole tell a story as important and evident as the story in any individual piece.

"My work is a direct reflection of who I am at the time that I make it. My work has evolved a lot in the past few years, and within the last year it’s been especially all over the place. I like to experiment with different materials and try new things. Every day I am at least writing and or sketching something. I doodle a lot alongside jagged poems. Or just throw my ideas down so I don’t forget them. Usually I don’t come back to them til like months later.I've been reworking clothing recently with clothes that I don’t wear anymore. Cutting things up, spray painting, embroidering. It’s a lot of fun. I really like using thrifted materials for everything that I do, whether that be clothing or canvases, frames or paper bags to draw on. There’s so much sh*t that exists in this world, and that is being thrown away, so I feel weird about buying new stuff. I'm about to start getting into tattooing which I’m really excited about. I'm curious to see how my art influences the tattoos I make and vice versa. I love collaborating with other artists and finding more ways to make my practice more sustainable. I love using my art as a way to connect with people on a deeper level. My goal is to keep spreading peace and appreciation for this life and this Earth." -Lily Gaunt

Our Very First Artist Feature:
@fishy.bowl on Instagram. An anonymous artist out of New England @fishy.bowl has found quiet success on tiktok and Insta despite being a small page. Their approach to posture, stance, and perspective is unique yet relatable uncomplicated art that is simultaneously nuanced. Their character choice brought new insight into who might wear my pieces and how they may wear them from flare, to styling, to physical challenges. FB isn't attempting to make political statements or call for action, but instead brings anthropomorphic animals to allow the characters to relate deeper than they may to the image of a person that carries the baggage of bias and over familiarity. FB's art is a fresh lens through I was lucky to peer through watching this project unfold.
